KARACHI: Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) senior leader Dr Farooq Sattar has strongly condemned police detention of his colleague Khawaja Izharul Hassan during raid on his house, describing it as an attempt to sideline the party.
He stated that Khawaja was taken into custody without any arrest warrants. Speaking to media outside the residence of Khawaja Izhar, Farooq Sattar strongly condemned arrest of the MQM leader and said that it was an insult of political and democratic system.
He said that arrest of Khawaja Izhar, without warrants, shows hostility towards the MQM. “It is not the matter of running party from London but it shows hostility towards the MQM,” he said. “Neither accused nor anything illegal was found from the residence of Izhar,” he stated this while taking to media.
Police on Friday took MQM Pakistan leader Khawaja Izharul Hassan into custody. SSP Malir Rao Anwar arrived at the residence of Khawaja Izhar in Buffer Zone area and took him into custody. Khawaja was handcuffed and taken away into armoured vehicle.
